Bourgon Insurance Inc. was founded in 1887 by auctioneer and livestock trader, Mr. Andrew Philps. At the time the company was founded, Mr. Philps was also a member of the Quebec National Assembly. He opened his insurance brokerage office in Huntingdon to serve the region, including the Chateauguay Valley. At that time, the office represented Beauharnois County Mutual Insurance, Halifax Insurance Company, and Phoenix Insurance Company of London.
